Shades of purple? Check. Metallic undertones? Check. A color technique that leaves the hair looking melted to absolute perfection? CHECK. This wine-inspired hue from Farouk Systems uses their new violet line to create an updated take on purple haircolor. Here’s how it’s done.
STEPS

Section the hair into three triangles on the top of the head and clip away.Â

Isolate a small, curved section behind the ear and apply Formula A.

The, isolate a horizontal section above the ear and apply Formula A.

Continue working in this area and isolate these sections with foils.Â

Then, taking diagonal-forward slices in the first triangle at the top of the head, apply Formula A from roots through to the ends and isolate in foils.

Repeat this color application in the other two triangles. Process until the hair reaches a Level 9.

Continue steps 5 and 6.Â

Check hair periodically until achieving a Level 9. Â

While the lightener processes, apply Formula B from roots to ends on all hair that was not prelightened.Â

On the prelightened sections, apply Formula C from the roots to the midshaft. Then, blend Formula D at the midshaft and melt the color down through to the ends.Â

Continue this technique on the prelightened hair. Process, then rinse, shampoo and condition the hair. Blow-dry to prep for styling.Â

Apply a rich amount of CHI Silk Infusion through the hair for shine and protection.

Spray hair with CHI Enviro Natural Hold Hairspray before styling.

Then, use the Dura CHI 1-Inch Ceramic Curling Iron from the roots to the midshaft. Start in the nape area, working with horizontal sections.

Then, use the CHI Ellipse Wand from the midshaft to the ends and let the curls cool down in natural fall. Follow the same technique on the rest of the head.Â

Then, apply another round of CHI Silk Infusion and massage it through the hair.

Comb the hair with a large-tooth comb for a smooth and wavy end result.

Finish the look with CHI Shine Infusion.
