Tired of creating regular upstyles? Try this braided faux hawk from Hot Tools® Professional! Combine your braiding and backcombing skills with their new Black Gold Stylers and you’ll be able to make this party-ready look happen in no time. Here’s how it’s done.
STEPS

Starting at the root, take narrow sections and run the flat iron through to create a smooth result.

Use neat sections and always keep the flat iron moving to prevent marks in the hair.

Take smaller sections around the face to ensure you flat iron through all baby hairs.

Once the hair is completely smooth, brush through the crown section, then clip away. This will leave you with two sections down on the sides of the head.

On both sides, create a five-strand braid (or whatever braid you are most comfortable with).

After both braids are complete, backcomb the entire crown section using big brushstrokes.

Lightly smooth over the backcombed surface and sculpt the top into a faux hawk shape. Use texture spray throughout to create volume and separation on smooth, straight hair.
