The sleek and sculpted hair spotted at Alexander Wang FW18 is high fashion’s take on corporate power dressing of the ’80s and ’90s, Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau told BTC backstage at the show. Serious-hold products are required to create the comb tracks intentionally left in the hair, and the jaw clip (yes, it’s totally back!) is a must. Keep reading to see how to recreate the look.

STEPS
Apply Redken Mess Around 10 to the front of the hairline, then section by section from the ears to the top of the head.
Comb through to evenly distribute with a wide-toothed comb to achieve definition. Allow the comb marks to show throughout the crown in intentional lines, starting at the forehead and moving toward the back of the head.
Spray Redken Forceful 23 throughout the crown for a strong hold, and begin pulling pieces back into a ponytail. Secure with a black elastic.
Twist the ponytail into a low chignon. Add one large clip or two smaller clips over the chignon.
Use a Dyson Supersonic with the professional concentrator to smooth the hair and give it an added, continuous shape.
