Steps
1. Create a mini-light placement using Formula A. Add babylights around the face, two babylight foils in the back and two on each side of the part. Tip out selected ends as needed for additional brightness. Process until the desired lift is achieved, then rinse.
PRO TIP: “Placement with a punch is key,” Amy says. “This placement is fast and easy and keeps all the internal depth, making it super dimensional and low maintenance.”
2. Apply Formula B at the root, softly diffusing the color into the lightened sections to blur lines and create additional depth. Process according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then rinse.
3. Apply Formula C from roots to ends on clean, dry hair. Process for 20 to 30 minutes at room temperature, then rinse with cool water until the water runs clear.
4. To custom-color The Hair Shop® Smart Weft™ HIEW 10 Lived-In Blonde extensions, prewash the wefts with hot water. Apply Formula C evenly, process and rinse with cool water before installation.
PRO TIP: “Prewash new extensions with hot water before applying any color,” Amy says. “This will remove their factory silicone coating, and they will absorb color so much better.”
Maintenance
Amy refreshes her highlights approximately every four months and reapplies Formula C every other week to maintain the peach tone. “When I first tone it, it’s super peach,” Amy says. “After each wash, it gets more and more subtle and eventually washes out to a warm blonde. I love every version of it because it’s always changing.”
