Christopher John Rogers Fall 2019 show during New York Fashion Week took us back in time to the days of flamboyant southern belles and exclusive society parties from the gowns to the hair. Texture queen Naeemah LaFond (@naeemahlafond), amika’s Global Artistic Director, brought the theme to live with her crimped and waved textured updos fit for a beauty queen. How-To:
1. Smooth hair into a sleek ponytail using amika Heist Molding Blend.
2. Twist the ponytail up into a small bun and apply amika Headstrong Intense Hold Hairspray.
3. Use a hair pin to secure an extension braid onto the natural bun. Wrap the braid around to cover the bun and secure with pins.
4. Continue wrapping hair extensions around the bun and secure as you go.
5. Take hair in sections and spray with Headstrong Intense Hold Hairspray. Then use the amika High Tide Deep Waver, Mighty Mini Styler and The Chameleon Curler to create a mix of curled, crimped and waved pieces.
6. Gently comb through sections to break the texture up for added airiness.
7. Lightly spray with amika Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray and finish with Headstrong Intense Hold Hairspray.
