U.S. Barber Cristian Botello Wins First-Ever Wahl® Professional Global Barber Battle Championship
Wahl® Professional made history in Chicago, crowning U.S. barber Cristian Botello (@crispy_cris7) the winner of the first-ever Wahl® Global Barber Battle during a two-day international event that brought together top barbers, educators and industry leaders from around the world.
Held May 3 to 4 at the Athenaeum Center for Thought & Culture, the event transformed the venue into a global stage for barbering—complete with advanced education, artist networking, a red-carpet-style championship and the exclusive debut of the new Wahl® Vapor® CE, a limited-edition professional clipper inspired by the energy of global competition.

13 Countries, One Global Stage: Wahl® Makes History
The first-ever Wahl® Global Barber Battle brought together competitors from 13 countries to showcase their technical skill, creativity and artistry in front of a live audience. After winning their respective regional spots, the format allowed barbers to represent their countries while competing head-to-head on a global platform, turning the weekend into a celebration of international barbering culture.
“The energy in the room was unmatched by any industry event I’ve seen in a long time,” said Missy Jacobs, Education Leader for North America at Wahl®. “We had attendees from all over the world and at every stage of their careers, from students to seasoned artists and educators, all connected by the same passion for creativity, growth and the industry itself.”
On stage, competitors worked under pressure while the audience watched every detail unfold in real time. From clipper control and shape building to finishing work and overall presentation, the battle was monitored by a legendary panel of judges:

What’s Next For Cristian, The First-Ever Wahl® Global Champion?
Cristian represented the United States and ultimately earned the title of Wahl® Global Barber of the Year after advancing through the competition.
“It’s such an honor to represent the U.S. and accomplish something like this on a global stage,” Cristian said. “I’ve worked really hard for an opportunity like this, so I’m incredibly grateful.”
As the first-ever Wahl® Global Barber Battle champion, Cristian will travel to Los Angeles to participate in Wahl® Future Makers™, the brand’s creative platform focused on mentorship, education and elevating the next generation of talent.
“I’m most excited about being surrounded by so much talent,” Cristian said. “I’m always striving to learn, and I’m looking forward to growing alongside the team.”
He also shared advice for barbers who hope to create similar opportunities in their own careers. “My advice is to network as much as possible, attend events, shake hands and continue believing in yourself,” Cristian said. “You never know when an opportunity to compete on a global stage might come your way.”
Wahl® Debuts The Vapor® CE
In addition to the competition, attendees got an exclusive first look at the new Wahl® Vapor® CE, a limited-edition professional clipper created in celebration of the championship event. Designed for precision, control and performance, the Vapor® CE was introduced as a tool inspired by the intensity and artistry of global competition.
Limited quantities were available for purchase at the event, giving attendees early access to the new release.
