Create a v-shaped section on the top of the head.

Create a section at the temple and part downward at an angle matching the v shape.

Bring a 1-inch section forward from the temple, cutting at the angle of the jawline.

Continue to section working upward toward the original v parting, cutting in diagonal segments working toward the base of the nape.

Cutting with this technique, create graduated layers in a sweeping motion, following the head.
