1. The Developer Determines The Toner’s Pigmentation
Choose a developer with the desired toner vibrancy in mind. SPARKS Toners are mixed with either 7- or 20-volume developer.
- 7-volume: More vibrant result, closer to the highly pigmented swatch color.
- 20-volume: More pastel result and more translucent coverage.

2. Toner Deposit Depends On Processing Time
Processing toners can be scary, but DON’T rinse too soon—or leave it on too long! For a quick color refresh, let SPARKS Toner process for 5 minutes. For a more true-to-swatch hue, leave on for up to 25 minutes.
3. Using Toners On Wet Vs. Dry Hair
Toners are usually applied to wet hair to achieve a soft finish, but don’t be afraid to apply it to dry hair for a more pigmented look. Remember: Toning on dry hair requires more product than toning on wet hair.
