Peter first sprayed Moroccanoil Frizz Control all over the hair to keep it smooth and manageable. Next, to give hair a bit of substance without any weight, he worked a bit of Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream throughout its length. He then blow dried the hair straight using a Moroccanoil Professional Series Hair Dryer and a Moroccanoil XLPRO Paddle Brush.

Once the texture of the hair was right, Peter placed a comb diagonally in front of the ear, pointing downwards to the nape, and started rolling the hair at that angle. He continued to add in a bit more hair as he worked his way down to the neck area, creating a soft, pretty twist. He repeated this process on the other side.

At the nape, Peter overlapped the two roped ponytails and used a large darning needle threaded with spooled sewing elastic to sew them together.

Once the two roped rolls were fastened, Peter twisted the remaining ponytails below, then overlapped and crossed them to the opposite sides. He knotted these two twists into a chignon and pinned them at the base of the neck, spraying on a bit of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong. This worked to give the ponytails a bit of texture, prevent slipping and to give the hair more ‘grip.’

Finally, to make the style look even more modern and natural, Peter created a bit of texture on the roped sections. To do this, he pulled out little fine sections of hair with his fingertips, then finished with a light spritz of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong.

To finish, Peter added multiple white silk flowers to the style to change up the classic, Gauguin-like wedding look of one flower behind the ear. Instead, he used flowers in three different linear placements on each model, in different directions to follow the angular, twisted rolls of hair.”

Designed by leading runway and editorial hairstylist Peter Gray for Moroccanoil, the hair look for Badgley Mischka’s bridal collection were inspired by the sophistication of the 1930s but with a modern glamorous elegance. White silk flowers accent the looks but break clichés of wedding hair as multiple blooms are strategically grouped in a linear modern placement. “I wanted to create bridal hair that was fresh, cool and simple,” Peter says.
