- 1Step 1 of 9

Before. The model was a Level 6 at the base, Level 8 in the mids and Level 10 on the ends with some grays.
- 2Step 2 of 9

Create a zigzag part around the hairline, paying attention to the density and natural hairline. You should end up with two sections on either side of the face in front of the ears, and three in the back. Clip the top half of the hair out of the way.
- 3Step 3 of 9

Start in the front triangle of the zigzag and weave fine highlights to frame the face using Formula A. Leave out a slice of hair between each foil. As you move to each triangle, alternate the direction of the foils based on the part. This adds brightness and makes sure it looks great, even in a ponytail.
- 4Step 4 of 9

- 5Step 5 of 9

Continue to the next triangle and repeat the process around the head, fully saturating the hair in each foil for even application. There’s no need to worry about overprocessing because unlike lightener, the haircolor isn’t time-sensitive.
- 6Step 6 of 9

Do a global root application of Formula B on the hair you clipped out of the way earlier. This will color the natural outgrowth, add richness and blend grays.
- 7Step 7 of 9

Part the top section of hair down the middle. Take one half and start at the bottom, do slices and weaves, alternating Formulas C, D and E. Slices give more depth and weaves give a softer look. Repeat on the other side.
- 8Step 8 of 9

Process for 20 minutes, then shampoo and condition with Joico K-PAK Color Therapy.
- 9Step 9 of 9

Finished look.
