Prep the hair by applying Kenra Professional Porosity Equalizing Spray. This will control static and give better control when applying the lightener. Section the hair by creating a natural part down the center of the head. Then, take two diagonal partings starting at the natural fall near the crown, to the bottom of each ear. Split the bottom sections in half with a diagonal parting.

TIP: Isolate and leave out the vellus hair at the hairline. This will create natural dimension and avoid spottiness when applying the color.

Starting at the nape, take a dense section and surface paint Formula A. Initially applying to the mids, hold the brush flat on the section to avoid over saturating and feather the product up towards the base. Lift the section up to ensure the lightener hasn't seeped through. If the client has been previously lightened, leave out the ends to avoid over processing.

TIP: Use a clean, dry brush to feather the lightener up towards the base.

To create a lowlight, take a thin section directly above the surface painted section and apply Formula B, isolate the lowlight with a foil. Repeat on the opposite bottom section.

For the front sections, remove any previously lightened pieces with a chunky weave and apply Formula B. Isolate section with a foil and clip it out of the way. Apply Formula A to the remaining hair and let process.

TIP: To make sure the client is fully processed, take a section applied with Formula A and break the clay lightener apart. The processed hair should reveal a pale yellow shade.

Shampoo and condition using the Kenra Platinum Detox & Deflect Shampoo and Conditioner. Use a towel to remove any excess moisture from the hair and spray Porosity Equalizer Spray.

At the shampoo bowl, section the hair into three sections: two in the front, using the client's natural part and one in the back. Use a bottle applicator and apply Formula C, paying close attention to any warmth in the retouch area.
