Runway stylist Peter Gray for Moroccanoil created dramatic, voluminous multi-textured updos inspired by the volume and shapes of sculptor Umberto Boccioni—coupled with the flowing curly texture of Elizabeth Taylor’s hair in her award-winning performance in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.” The glamorous look featured cascades of luminous curls flowing in a graceful triangular shape, and resting on a smooth, sculptural foundation of a bold French Twist. Here’s how Peter created one of our favorite looks from Fashion Week.   (more…)

First apply new Moroccanoil Frizz Control and Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to dampened hair to build in smoothness and soft hold.

Next, make a long vertical section from the top of the ear to the crown. To bump up volume and lift the foundation of the look, spray Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray at the root and blow-dry each section with a round Moroccanoil Ionic Ceramic Hair Brush.

Backcomb the hair and turn it into a huge French Twist, keeping it in place with bobby pins criss-crossed in from nape to crown.

To prepare the rest of the hair, create a classic roller set using a ¾-inch iron, meticulously pinning each curl section by section. Use Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray on individual sections and all over the head, and allow the curls to set.

After releasing the set, comb the hair on ends gently with a wide tooth comb to preserve the curls, and loosely brush the hair from root to mid head with a brush for a smoother texture.

Finally, the most important part of this look—shaping texture. Backcomb each section, starting at the crown and working forward, to create a large mass of hair. Then create the look—shape, twist, fold and sculpt all the hair into a flowing triangular shape. Then bring these shapes up to the crown area and secure to the top of the smoothed French Twist. Spray the whole look once more with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray for a soft, flowing and natural-looking hold.
