Going from a Level 2 black canvas to anything metallic might seem like a difficult task, but it’s no problem for Matrix Global Artist Constance Robbins! And in one of her recent Instagram posts, she shared exactly how she made the transformation happen (including a sneak peek of a new metallic Matrix line, maybe?!). Watch the video below, plus get the color formulas and steps for this lightning-inspired lavender.     A post shared by behindthechair.com (@behindthechair_com) on Sep 11, 2017 at 10:34am PDT (more…)
  1. 1Step 1 of 6

Prelighten the hair using Formula A and leaving the roots out. Let process.

Know this: the oil additive allows the lightener to stay saturated and work through the hair easier to get better lift, plus it eliminates scalp irritation during the on-scalp application process!

  2. 2Step 2 of 6

Shampoo and apply Formula B from the roots to the midlengths. Then reapply Formula A from the mids to the ends and let process until desired lightness is achieved.

  4. 4Step 4 of 6

Rinse and pretone the hair using Formula C. This formula is designed to create a solid base for the next color application and treat the hair at the same time.

  5. 5Step 5 of 6

After pre-toning and treating the hair, it's time for the color melt! Apply Formula D at the base and melt into Formula E, saturating through to the ends. Constance uses a lighter formula for the midlengths and ends because that hair is always more porous and accepts color differently than hair closer to the scalp.

  6. 6Step 6 of 6

Let the hair process. Then rinse, shampoo, blow-dry and style as desired.
