Created by her longtime stylist Chris McMillan, owner of The Chris McMillan Salon in Beverly Hills, it’s a neat “twist” on the classic chignon. Start with dry, day-two hair and backcomb the crown section to create volume. - 2Step 2 of 11
Smooth the top layer with a brush or wide-tooth comb. - 3Step 3 of 11
Divide the hair into three sections. Begin at the crown with a few French braid plaits. - 4Step 4 of 11
Shift to a Dutch braid technique—crossing the outermost pieces of the hair under the center section in order to raise the braid. Work to the nape. - 5Step 5 of 11
Continue braiding until running out of hair, then secure the braid with an elastic. - 6Step 6 of 11
Loosen the braid by lightly tugging at the sides. - 7Step 7 of 11
From the bottom, roll the end of the braid up to the nape. - 8Step 8 of 11
Secure with bobby pins, then release a few thin strands to frame the face. Gently pull on the braid to loosen the shape. - 9Step 9 of 11
Smooth the crown and mist with a finishing spray, such as Living Proof Control Hairspray. - 10Step 10 of 11
