Icy blondes and curly texture are in bloom for Aveda’s Rare Bloom Spring 2015 Collection. This cool, icy blonde is the perfect shade for spring—it’s fresh, youthful and really packs a punch. “Blonde means different things to different people. Creating the perfect blonde is about envisioning the guest’s desired tone and using haircolor to achieve beautiful results. That’s why blonde finish is amazing—you can refine any shade of blonde to perfection in minutes,” says Ian Michael Black, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Color. Here Ian Michael breaks down this stunning color, while Ricardo Dinis, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Cutting (more…)

Prelighten the hair to create the perfect palette for creating subtle shade variation. After lifting the hair to the palest yellow with Formula A, the residual warmth is refined with enlightener blonde finish protective toner in ash to create a subtle shade that looks natural--not artificial. Customize the color with Formula B to accommodate the fine hair texture and very light, icy result.

enlightener™ blonde finish protective toner —a breakthrough in blonding that refines prelightened hair in just 5 minutes at the shampoo bowl. Blonde Finish can be applied at the shampoo bowl after an allover or highlight application with enlightener, as well.

Rinse the enlightener™ formula out of the hair, and lightly cleanse with color conserve™ shampoo.

Process the hair for 5 minutes. Because the dyes are oxidative, only the hair will change color — not the product itself

    Ian’s Blonde Finish Tips
    1.
My favorite way to use blonde finish is over high-lift highlights. It merges the highlights into the natural base color for a seamless blonde result that is beautifully
    radiant and reflective.

    2.
To remove yellow hues from extra light blondes, apply a formula of 30g Universal ØN and 10g blonde finish in ash.

    3. For an ash-beige blonde, combine 30g blonde finish in beige with 10g blonde finish in ash.

    4. Shadow in at the roots by applying blonde finish to the scalp area first. Process for 5 minutes. Then apply to the ends, and process for 2 minutes.

    5. If the hairline becomes too white during an enlightener™ highlight application, apply blonde finish in beige or gold to the hairline at the shampoo bowl to make the prelightened hair appear less stark.

    6. For hair color corrections that cannot get past a strong yellow result, blonde finish in ash is the perfect choice because it creates a nice beige-caramel hue without affecting the level.

    7. Blonde finish is ideal for creating a balanced end result on natural or prelightened blondes. It puts tone back into overlightened, washed-out ends, refines any rawness and balances the fresh haircolor at the scalp.

    8. Diluting a blonde finish shade with Universal ØN allows you to control the refinement by making the shade more sheer and giving you the ability to customize your end result.

Ricardo used triangular graduation and a disconnected top to create this look. Start by taking horizontal subsections through the center back, and cut with a razor, elevating each subsection as you work up the head. Repeat on both sides of the head, twisting the subsections to give the haircut a soft look. Disconnect the top from the sides, and cut with a razor, leaving it longer through the parting.

Prep damp hair with volumizing tonic™. Rough-dry the hair, finishing the crown with an Aveda paddle brush to smooth the hair in its natural fall. Style by taking a 1-inch pie-shaped section and lightly spraying it with witch hazel light hold hair spray.

Beginning 3 inches from the crown, twist the section lightly around your finger. Wrap the twisted section around the inside of a large metal duck bill clip, and close to
lock the hair in place. Repeat in 6 to 8 sections.

Continue until all sections are set, pressed and cooled. Remove 4 clips at a time, and separate the curls with the tail of a tail comb. Lightly backcomb to build volume, and sculpt into the desired shape.
