Take an off-center part, or your client’s favorite part location. Divide the hair into three sections: one on each side of the part (from the ears forward) and one in the back. Separate the fringe at the very front and center as well.
- 3Step 3 of 14

Next, section hair in a V, starting from the bottom. Weave a section on each side of the V and apply Formula A. This ensures the highlights evenly show up when your client wears her hair up.
- 4Step 4 of 14

Next, weave a horizontal section across the bottom of the V and work your way up in a bricklay pattern.
- 5Step 5 of 14

When you reach the occipital bone, start to leave some of the ends out of the foil. Choose which ends to leave out based on how pale blonde your client’s hair is. If the ends look like they don’t need to be lighter, leave them out—use your eye here.
- 6Step 6 of 14

Continue to work until you reach the top. For the pieces toward the top, wrap a foil band around the base of each section to prevent bleeding.
- 7Step 7 of 14

Move to the sides. Start by weaving a fine diagonal section that frames the face, then work your way up in horizontal sections above the ear.
Pro Tip: Bring your client’s hair up into a ponytail to best see the hairline.
- 8Step 8 of 14

As you reach the top, start from the front and work your way back in horizontal sections.
- 9Step 9 of 14

Finish this section and repeat on the opposite side.
- 10Step 10 of 14

For the fringe, use very fine back-to-back weaving. Your clients will love this extra touch of lightness on top.

Apply Formula B and process for 20 minutes at room temperature. Shampoo with K-PAK Color Therapy, then rinse. Apply K-PAK Color Therapy Luster Lock, leave in for up to 5 minutes, rinse and style hair.

There comes a time when she is just over her ombré—especially since YOU didn’t do it and it isn’t looking so hot. You need to soften that harsh line between the two tones in her hair, and Joico Celebrity Colorist Denis De Souza will show you how! His technique achieves a beautifully balanced, sandy blonde. “Remember, making an ombré soft and modern isn’t difficult,” Dennis says. “It’s as simple as using your artistic eye to soften any hard lines and bring a healthy, soft glow to the overall color.” (more…)
