Modern Rope Braid

Prep hair with Moroccanoil® Smoothing Shampoo and Smoothing Conditioner, towel-dry and apply 2 to 3 pumps of Moroccanoil® Treatment all over to damp midlengths and ends. Then, apply Smoothing Lotion from the midlengths through to the ends, rough-dry as necessary and blow-dry smooth. 

To section the hair, create a 1-inch central vertical section from the front hairline to the high point and secure with a styling clip. Next, isolate and secure a 1-inch hairline section on the right and left of the center section extending to the front of the ear.

Start by taking a small subsection at the high point in the central vertical section and split it into two strands.

Twist both strands counterclockwise, then cross the left strand over the right to begin a rope braid.

Add a small subsection of hair to the left strand and join them by twisting the hair counterclockwise. Cross the left strand over the right strand.

Repeat these steps and continue to add small subsections of hair to the left strand, twisting counterclockwise to join and crossing the left strand over the right strand until reaching the front hairline.

Pro Tip: Stand directly in front of the section you are working on. Where you are standing influences where the braid leads.

At the front hairline, direct one strand to the left side of the head and secure with a styling clip. Direct the other strand to the right.

Then, split the strand that is directed to the right side into two strands.

Twist both strands counterclockwise, crossing the left strand over the right strand. Then, add a small subsection of hair to the left strand, joining them by continuously twisting counterclockwise and crossing the left strand over the right strand.

Repeat until reaching the top of the ear. At this point, stop adding subsections of hair but continue the rope braid, directing it toward the back of the head. 

Secure the hair ends with an elastic and repeat the on the left side.

Lastly, connect the two rope braids with an elastic at the back of the head. Spray Moroccanoil® Dry Texture Spray on the hair below the ears and spray Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairpsray Extra Strong above the ears to set hair into place. Finally, apply Moroccanoil® Glimmer Shine for added radiance.
