- 1Step 1 of 18
Start by sectioning at the round of the head in a rectangular shape. - 2Step 2 of 18
Cut in the base line by cutting in a square shape. - 3Step 3 of 18

Section diagonally at the occipital bone and begin your graduation, working in a pivotal manner. Then cross-check to taper to the neck area.
- 4Step 4 of 18

Take horizontal sections and bring everything down to the stable guideline, using the jawline as a reference point.
- 5Step 5 of 18

- 6Step 6 of 18

Lift the hair above 90 degrees and create round layers—it is important to overdirect the sides back in order to maintain a consistent frontal length.
- 7Step 7 of 18

Working through the sides toward the front, remove excess weight. Continue to remove weight, and work upward horizontally toward the crown.
- 8Step 8 of 18

Strengthen the shape by rounding the base, using the jaw and lip line as a visual guide. Release the crown section.
- 9Step 9 of 18

After blow-drying, refine the outer baseline.
- 10Step 10 of 18
Start by clipping away a halo section that comes to a “V” at the crown. - 11Step 11 of 18

Mix Subtil Lightener to a creamy consistency. Then, starting by teasing a diagonal section at the temple, just in front of the ear and balayage with SUBTIL Powder Lightener and 40-Volume Oxydant in a light application to create a very natural look around the hairline.
- 12Step 12 of 18

Continue to the top of the head, working with horizontal sections. Place a more delicate application at the crown and a more concentrated amount of color toward the face.
- 13Step 13 of 18

Cover each section with cellophane to insulate the color. This will keep the lightener from drying out and also aids in processing.
- 14Step 14 of 18

- 15Step 15 of 18

- 16Step 16 of 18

A client's body heat will naturally help process the color, so place additional layers of cellophane over the top to help insulate and retain heat. Process for 60 minutes at room temperature.
