Section the hair into four quadrants, then subdivide the back quadrants below the occipital and the front sections 2 inches from the hairline. Once you’ve finished, you should have an offset circle all the way around the head. As you section into quadrants, be sure to use the natural part as you want to work with the natural fall of the hair. Isolate the two quadrants in the front.

Starting at the nape, work toward the crown. Take ½-inch horizontal sections and begin freehand painting where you would like to see brightness throughout the hair.

Working in the front two panels, take ½-inch diagonal forward sections and place lightener on the hair where you would like to see brightness.

Release the hair in the upper subsections. Begin to freehand paint where you would like to see additional brightness throughout the hair. Process for up to 50 minutes, or until you achieve the desired lightness, then shampoo with Wella Professionals Elements Shampoo. To help seal the cuticle, apply Wella Professionals Color Post Treatment and process for 5 minutes before treating the hair with Wella Professionals Elements Conditioner.
