2018 saw a lot of diverse trends in haircolor. But if there’s one that’s going to continue well into the New Year, it’s the shadow blonde trend. This rooty variation of ombré has been on the scene for a while now, but climbed to the top of the haircolor charts earlier this year when spotted on celebs like Emma Roberts, Miley Cyrus and Kate Mara.     Using Formula A, balayage away from the roots in V-shaped sections, following the shape of the head. Use thicker Vs and Ws around the face. Process for the maximum amount of time according to lightener instructions.

    Rinse, shampoo and towel-dry the hair.

  3. 3Step 3 of 10

    Mix Formulas B, C and D.

  4. 4Step 4 of 10

    Smudge the roots using Formula B, feathering the color down to the midlengths.

    Apply Formula C to midlengths, and melt in Formula D through the ends.

    Process for 20 minutes.
