Guy Tang and Rebecca Taylor
When fellow stylist Rebecca Taylor’s Granny Gray began to fade, Guy Tang, social media sensation and haircolor activist, dreamed up a different type of silver—think smoky denim meets steel with a sweet frosty twist. This multidimensional look, created with the help of Schwarzkopf Professional PEARLESCENCE shades, is truly one of a kind. And in case you need some more amazing coloring tips and metallic how-tos, we’ve got you covered! Guy Tang and Rebecca Taylor will be onstage at our COLOR, Cut & Style show this September talking all their haircolor secrets! Don’t miss out! (more…)

Mist the entire head using Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Pre-Life Kera Protector to protect the band around the lightener. Don’t be afraid to really get it damp. Run a round brush through the hair until strands are evenly saturated, then blow-dry it into the hair before prelightening.

Apply Formula A to regrowth a centimeter or so away from the root. The natural heat generated by the scalp will glide the color to the root—placing it a small distance away ensures that the scalp won’t be brighter than the midsection. Continue sectioning and lightening each quadrant for a cleaner part.

To create a shadow at the root part, use a short bristled brush to apply Formula B to the regrowth area. Apply half an inch out of regrowth so hair doesn’t have a band of hot roots. And remember to keep your application light to avoid super brights!  “I only use a minimal amount of product right on that regrowth area. This is the part that’s very crucial,” Guy says, “You don’t want to go too heavy on the product. Less is more.”

  4. 4Step 4 of 8

Start at back of the head, applying Formula D over the shadow root color, making sure it’s well saturated.

Blur in Formula E below E on the strands, leaving a space in the middle.

Saturate the ends with Formula C.

Continue this method (Steps 4-6) working all the way around the head.
