This modern look rocked the runway at the Rodarte show during Fall Fashion Week. Created by Odile Gilbert and the Aveda team, this sleek updo is perfect for any season. The look features slicked-back hair with a deep side part and a ponytail that’s laced up to create an architectural, modern chignon.    (more…)

Apply Aveda Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener* and blow dry to create smooth, shiny, straight hair.

Create a low side part on the right side and draw the part across the head, behind the top of the ear, leaving the front panel of hair (from part to ear) free. Spray with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray and comb through using a fine tooth comb.

Pull hair back tightly into a low slung ponytail, slightly off center to the left.

Take the remaining front panel of hair and smooth back into the same pony to create a sleek, tight look. Spray with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray to minimize flyaways, maintain the look and add shine.

Secure an elastic string (same color as hair) at the base of the pony and wrap the string down the length of the tail, criss-crossing in front and back. At the bottom of hair, wrap the elastic string back up the pony and tie in place. Cut excess string.

Fun Fact: The wrapped string mimicked the wrapping of the collection’s boot strappings.

Wrap the bound ponytail into an architectural, square-shaped chignon on the left side of the head. Secure in place with hair pins and spray again with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray.
