- 1Step 1 of 12

Section a horseshoe-shaped section at the parietal ridge, encompassing the crown. Isolate the sides by taking a vertical parting using the high point of the head as reference. Split the back with a vertical parting under the crown to center-back, then split the back into four sections using a horizontal parting at the occipital.
Begin in the right nape section by splitting the section with a diagonal forward parting. Surface paint all sides of the first subsection up to Zone 1. Saturate through the ends to enhance lightness.
- 2Step 2 of 12

Complete the same process on the second subsection, then repeat on the left nape section.
- 3Step 3 of 12

Starting on the right side, split the section with a diagonal back parting.
- 4Step 4 of 12

- 5Step 5 of 12

Surface paint all sides of the first subsection up to Zone 1. Saturate through the ends to enhance lightness.
- 6Step 6 of 12

Complete the same process on the second subsection, then repeat the same steps on the opposite side of the head.
- 7Step 7 of 12

Move to the back right section. Split the section with a diagonal back parting. Surface paint with a soft V-shape to keep the point of light on top of the section, then repeat on the left side.
- 8Step 8 of 12

Section out the fringe area with a triangular parting that extends 2 inches from the front hairline to the outside corner of each eye. Separate the top into left and right sections with a vertical line from the center of the forehead to the center back of the crown.
- 9Step 9 of 12

Take the right half of the fringe and begin surface painting with a diagonal back point of light. Saturate through the ends to enhance lightness.
- 10Step 10 of 12

Use a diagonal back parting from the end of the fringe section to create a new triangle-shaped section. Continue to surface paint, lowering the diagonal back point of light to match where the previous diagonal back ended. Continue until the right side is complete.
- 11Step 11 of 12

Repeat on the opposite side, then process up to 50 minutes or until desired lightness is achieved. Rinse, shampoo, condition and dry the hair 100 percent, then apply Formula B globally. Process for 20 minutes, rinse, shampoo, condition and style as desired.
