- 1Step 1 of 9

Starting at the root, take narrow sections and run the flat iron through to create a smooth result.
- 2Step 2 of 9

Use neat sections and always keep the flat iron moving to prevent marks in the hair.
- 3Step 3 of 9

Take smaller sections around the face to ensure you flat iron through all baby hairs.
- 4Step 4 of 9

Once the hair is completely smooth, brush through the crown section, then clip away. This will leave you with two sections down on the sides of the head.
- 5Step 5 of 9

On both sides, create a five-strand braid (or whatever braid you are most comfortable with).
- 6Step 6 of 9

After both braids are complete, backcomb the entire crown section using big brushstrokes.
- 7Step 7 of 9

Lightly smooth over the backcombed surface and sculpt the top into a faux hawk shape. Use texture spray throughout to create volume and separation on smooth, straight hair.
