Viral Transformation: Faded Green to Violet Plum Melt

This transformation started with a client who came in wanting blonde—but her stubborn green tones had other plans. So PRAVANA® Creator and OLAPLEX Brand Ambassador Alejandro Lopez (@artistic.aestheticss) pivoted during a tricky correction that required a full color remover, careful rebuilding and multiple layers of rich tone to safely neutralize and refresh the hair.

Alejandro transformed leftover green pigment to this layered magenta-violet blend, proving sometimes the best blondes aren’t blonde at all. Below, we share his full formula.

But first, press play to watch his full consultation:

The Formulas

Formula A (roots, pre-tone)
PRAVANA® ChromaSilk Creme Color 7.0 + 8.0 + 7.1 (2:1:1) + developer
Formula B (global)
PRAVANA® ChromaSilk VIVIDS Magenta + developer
Formula C (roots )
PRAVANA® ChromaSilk VIVIDS Everlasting 4.77 Violet Reign + developer
Formula D (global)
ChromaSilk VIVIDS Everlasting Poison Berry + developer
Formula E (global)
ChromaSilk VIVIDS Magenta + developer

Steps

  1. Begin by applying a full color remover to lift out the old green pigment and create a clean base for toning. Pro Tip: Alejandro used OLAPLEX Nº.1 throughout the lightening process to protect and strengthen the hair during this tricky correction.
  2. Pre-tone the roots using Formula A to neutralize residual tones and even out the canvas before applying the vivid layers.
  3. Apply Formula B globally as the first vivid layer to establish saturation and build a strong magenta foundation.
  4. Layer Formula C at the roots to deepen the tone and create a soft violet shadow that blends seamlessly into the mids and ends.
  5. Finish by applying Formula D globally to enhance dimension and refine the overall hue.
