This formula is proof that you don't always need a Level 10 starting point to create a smoky metallic shade! Here's how Farouk Systems International Artist Cynthia Diersen refreshed her client's already-violet color and blended in a smoky metallic hue at the same time.
The Formulas
- Formula A (lightener):
- CHI Infra High Lift GB + CHI Color Generator 10-volume developer
- Formula B (color refresh):
- CHI Ionic Shine Shades Liquid Color 6V + 8V + CHI Color Generator 10-volume developer
- Formula C (metallic color):
- 1½ oz. CHI Shine Shades 9S + 1 cap 1N + 10-volume developer
Steps
Starting Level: Violet Level 7
1. Create a large triangle section from one temple to the crown of the head and down to the other temple. Apply Formula A and lighten until the hair is a warm, strawberry color. Then rinse, shampoo and blow-dry.
2. Once the hair is dry, apply Formula B throughout the rest of the head, leaving the prelightened section alone.
3. Spray the prelightened section with CHI Keratin Mist from mids to ends, then apply formula C to the prelightened section. Let process for 30 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and blow-dry.
