The Formulas

Formula A (lightener)
Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Bond Enforcing Premium Lightener 9+ + Balay Powder + 20-volume developer + b3 Brazilian Bond Builder
Formula B (pre-tone)
Redken Shades EQ 9V + 9N + Shades EQ Processing Solution
Formula C (base)
Schwarzkopf Professional IGORA ROYAL 1½ oz. 5-65 + ½ oz. 5-0 + ½ oz. 6-0 + 7-volume developer
Formula D (mids)
IGORA ROYAL 2 oz. 7-0 + ribbon of 7-4 + 7-volume developer

Steps

1. Balayage using Formula A and a teasy highlight technique. “I mixed up a total of four bowls to ensure my lightener stayed strong and worked together until the end,” says Tara. She says this took about 90 minutes.

2. Process for about an hour, pulling foils as they reach your desired lightness.

3. Rinse, shampoo and pre-tone using Formula B to even out the canvas to ensure a balanced final color.

4. Rinse and perform the Wella Professionals Post Treatment Service Color while gently combing out the backcombed hair. Towel-dry thoroughly.

5. Apply Formula C to the base, Formula D to the midlengths and Formula E to the ends, blending each color into the next to create a color melt. Process for 35 minutes, then rinse.
