Gracefully growing out gray hair often calls for targeted color correction, especially when warmth through the mids and ends needs refining to blend seamlessly with silver roots without pushing the hair too matte and ashy. For this client, BTC Team Member Jessenia Robayo (@jesseniaspallet) approached the service as targeted color correction, refining tone to support the natural gray at the root while softening residual brass through the ends.
Jessenia used Paul Mitchell The Demi, pairing an ash tone with one of the new Chocolate shades to control brass while anchoring the formula, preserving shine and avoiding an overly matte finish. The Formulas
- Formula A (mids and ends)
- Paul Mitchell The Demi 3A + The Demi 4CH (1:1) + developer
Steps
1. Apply Formula A through the mids and ends, focusing on areas with residual warmth that need neutralization and blending into the silver regrowth.
Pro Tip: Pairing ash with a Chocolate shade helps prevent an overly matte or hollow finish while toning warm brass.
2. Fully saturate and allow the formula to process for 20 minutes to soften brass and blend grays while maintaining shine.
3. Rinse, condition and style as desired.
