Sabrina Carpenter’s buttery blonde in “Manchild” is enough to keep them coming a-running. The soft, dimensional shade was created by longtime colorist and Redken Ambassador Laurie Heaps (@_hairbylaurie) using the new Redken Shades EQ™ Pearl Vinyl Blondes collection. Her voluminous layers and curly fringe were styled by Evanie Frausto (@evaniefrausto), who gave the color a fluffy, undone finish that fit perfectly with the video’s desert daydream aesthetic.
Below, Laurie shares the process used to create Sabrina’s creamy, soft-blended blonde. But first, here's a look at Sabrina’s buttery blonde on set:

The Formulas
- Formula A (top, sides)
- Redken Flash Lift Bonder Inside + 20 Volume Redken Pro-Oxide Developer
- Formula B (back, hairline)
- Flash Lift Bonder Inside + 10 Volume Pro-Oxide Developer
- Formula C (toner)
- Redken Shades EQ Pearl Vinyl Blondes 8NV + Redken Shades EQ Processing Solution
Steps
- Start with Formula A on the back and hairline to gently lift finer sections and maintain control. “Redken Flash Lift with Bonder Inside is my go-to for lift. It gives me total control without damaging the hair,” Laurie says.
- Apply Formula B through the top and sides for a brighter lift and balanced overall dimension.
- Remove foils as each section processes, lifting them individually with a damp towel for customized, even results.
- Shampoo, then gloss roots with Formula C to create a soft, grown-in tone that blends seamlessly into the rest of the blonde. “I glossed her roots with Redken’s new Shades EQ Pearl Vinyl Blondes in 8NV to add that soft, grown-in vibe,” Laurie explains.
- Finish with a trim, adding face-framing layers and disconnected bangs for a modern, airy shape that complements the soft texture.
