There’s no question, crystal-like color is in—so when we spotted this rose quartz-inspired hue on Instagram, we knew (in our hearts and third eye 💞✨) that the process behind the color needed to be shared with the world. Here’s how Ashley Lantz (@ashleylantzhair), a stylist from Avondale, Ariz., melted her client’s color to shimmery, metallic perfection.

1. Apply Formula A first to the midshafts, then to the regrowth area and let process. When processing is almost complete, apply Formula B on the ends and leave on for 15 minutes or until all hair reaches an even pale yellow.

2. Then rinse, apply Bond Ultim8 Step 2 and towel-dry the hair. To remove any excess warmth, apply Matrix Total Results Brass Off Neutralizing Mask for 15 minutes and rinse.

3. To color melt, @ashleylantzhair applied Formulas C, D and E in a random placement pattern, but focused Formula C at the roots, Formula D on the areas that were warmer and Formula E on the areas that lifted more clear.

4. Let color process for 30 minutes, then rinse, shampoo and style as desired.
