A dimensional shadow root paired with a soft blonde balayage is always a favorite combo of ours and the lastest take on this haircolor trend comes courtesy of Mackenzie Spaulding (@loveyourhair_kenz), a stylist at Tasaris le Salon in Vacaville, Calif.. Keep scrolling to get her color formulas AND for the application steps!
The Formulas
- Natural/Starting Level:
- 8
- Formula A:
- Aloxxi TONES® 6NA + 10-volume Crème Developer
- Formula B:
- Aloxxi Blue Lightener + 20-volume Blue Developer
- Formula C:
- Aloxxi Ultra Lightener + 20-volume Crème Developer
- Formula D:
- Aloxxi TONES® 9NA + 7-volume Crème Developer
Steps
1. Start by doing a root melt with Formula A.
2. Part the hair in three sections, separating the two front sections from the back. Begin in the front, taking diagonal partings, take a thin weave and apply Formula B. Repeat, alternating between applying Formulas B and C. “When I applied lightener on the hair closer to the front, I brought it up higher to frame the blonde along her face,” shares Mackenzie.
3. In the back, start at the bottom and work up, taking V-shaped partings. Alternate between applying Formulas B and C. “I use the V-technique so she still has depth and dimension,” says Mackenzie.
4. Wash the hair with AG Hair Sterling Silver Shampoo, then tone with Formula D to remove any remaining warmth.
