While the internet is buzzing about Bill Hader and Rachel Bilson making their debut as a couple at the 2020 Golden Globes, we're dying to know all the deets behind Rachel's haircolor transformation from golden blonde to soft brunette. Luckily for us, celeb colorist Cassondra Kaeding (@ckaedingcolor) shared the color formulas and how-to steps with us and we're breaking it all down for you below!

The Formulas
- Formula A (highlights):
- 2 oz. Redken Flash Lift Bonder Inside + 2 oz. Redken Pro-Oxide 30-Volume Developer
- Formula B (lowlights):
- Redken Shades EQ 5 oz. 09N + 0.5 oz. 09NB + 0.5 oz. 09G + 1.5 oz. Shades EQ Processing Solution
- Formula C (root formula):
- Redken Shades EQ 1 oz. 08N + 1 oz. Shades EQ Processing Solution
- Formula D (gloss):
- Redken Shades EQ 1.75 oz. 010N + 0.025 08WG + 2 oz. Shades EQ Processing Solution
Steps
1. Paint highlights throughout using Formula A.
2. Then, create lowlights with Formula B and process for 20 minutes.
3. Apply Formula C to the roots and process for 20 minutes.
4. Rinse, then gloss Zones 2 and 3 with Formula D.
5. Rinse again, then blow-dry and style as desired.
