If you weren't craving pumpkin spice yet, be warned. This color melt by Los Angeles colorist Megan Schipani (@shmeggsandbaconn) honestly looks like someone ran out of color and just used the rest of their PSL on their client. We reached out and got all of the juicy details for what is sure to be a highly requested color going into the fall season.

Starting Level:

One inch of Level 6 regrowth

Level 8 copper midlengths

Level 9 gold ends

Total chair time: 2½ hours

Pro Tip: When creating a rich copper, it is important to fill the hair with the tones that are missing due to previous lightening or color. Because the hair already had copper and gold tones in it from a previous color, there was no need to fill the hair.

The Formulas

Formula A (regrowth):
Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Bond Enforcing Premium Lightener 9+ + 7-volume developer
Formula B (money piece):
Schwarzkopf Professional IGORA ROYAL Permanent Color Creme 9.5-17 + 7-volume developer
Formula C (midlengths & ends):
IGORA ROYAL Permanent Color Creme 7-77 + 7-volume developer
Formula D (toner):
IGORA ROYAL Permanent Color Creme 7-77 + 0-00 + 0-55 + Schwarzkopf Profressiona; IGORA ColorWorx Orange + 7-volume developer
Formula E:
Schwarzkopf Professional Chroma ID Bonding Color Mask Orange

Steps

1. Apply Formula A to the regrowth and lift to a Level 9. Rinse, shampoo and towel-dry.

2. Section out a money piece in the front if desired and apply Formula B from root to end.

3. Then, apply Formula C throughout the root area and melt it down a couple inches.

4. Apply Formula D to the midlengths and ends and let process for 25 minutes.

5. Rinse thoroughly and apply Formula E all over for 10 minutes.

Pro Tip: To ensure even saturation when using the Chroma ID Bonding Color Mask, comb through the product using a WetBrush Pro Detangler.

6. Rinse again, then style as desired.
