When your client owns an art gallery, you can expect their hair to be as elaborate as the art they display. When concocting this color formula, Jessica Miranda of Carlton Hair in Burbank, CA decided to step into the artist’s shoes—mixing colors as artists do, blending shades until the perfect color emerges. After trial and error, Jessica finally found her perfect color—a cotton candy pink at the roots that contrast beautifully with subtle pink ends. Here is Jessica’s pink lemonade base blend!

The Formulas
- Starting Level:
- 6
- Formula A (prelighten):
- Goldwell Silk Lift Strong + 20-volume developer + 10P Goldwell Colorance Rinsed + 10V Goldwell Colorance Rinsed
- Formula B (toner):
- Equal parts 10P Goldwell Colorance + 10V Goldwell Colorance Rinsed
- Formula C (color):
- 6 oz. PRAVANA VIVIDS Clear + 1 oz. PRAVANA PASTELS Pretty in Pink + ¼ oz. PRAVANA VIVIDS Wild Orchid + 1/10 oz. PRAVANA VIVIDS Violet + 1/10 oz. PRAVANA VIVIDS Silver
Steps
1. Start by coating the hair with Formula A in order to lift the hair to a Level 10 throughout.
2. Apply Formula B from roots to ends.
3. Condition with Bumble and bumble Quenching Masque, starting from the midshafts through to the ends. Do not rinse out—leave in and move onto the next step.
4. Begin applying Formula C starting at the roots. Comb the color down in order to blend it evenly—stopping midshaft. Tone for 10 minutes.
5. Rake your fingers over the deep conditioner and through the ends. Tone for an additional 5 to 7 minutes.
6. Rinse, dry and style the hair.
