Thanks to Ashley Lewis (@the_blondologist), we have a constant feed of dimensional balayage inspiration at our disposal…which is exactly where we find gems like this rich, high-contrast color melt. Need to know how she did it? Here’s her color formula and how-to.
Total chair time: 2½ hours
The Formulas
- Natural Level
- 6
- Formula A
- Joico FreePlay Clay Lightener + 30-volume developer
- Formula B
- Eufora Color 7.01 + 6.0 + 6.32 + 7-volume developer doubled (1:2)
- Formula C
- Eufora Color 9.01 + 10.0 + 10.32 + 7-volume developer
Steps
1. Section the hair into quadrants. Starting in the front right quadrant and using Formula A, paint Vs and Ws to highlight. Process for 30 minutes with no heat.
2. Lowlight with Formula B. Then add a few drops of Eufora Clear Shine to the formula and apply to the root area to create a root shadow, slowly combing down about three inches to blend the colors. Process for about 30 minutes.
3. Gloss the front and the midlengths to ends with Formula C.
