Maybe it's the coffee addict in us, but we are seriously loving this dark roast blend—which got 30k(!) likes on Insta—from Ashlee Allen (@aaashleee), owner of ASH Studio in Ferndale, Mich. The secret? Keep the base darker overall, but add a subtle touch of light to the face-framing sections only to avoid giving your client a one-dimensional tone. Find out how she did it in the steps below!

Steps
1. Deepen her base by applying Formula A and pull the formula through with a thick weave for an overall darker look.
2. While that processes, foil out the previous balayage by applying Formula B. Focus more on the face-framing sections.
3. Rinse, then apply Design.ME PowerDry.ME and blow-dry.
4. Curl the hair with a 1 ¼ inch Hot Tools iron, then break up the curls a bit by applying a small amount of CHI Silk Infusion. Finishing by spraying Kenra Professional Shaping Spray 21.
