From bad to bomb! Stylist Chellsie Kiger (@chellsiedanielle) from Dollhouse Salon in San Jose, Calif. saved her client from one sad ombré! Using a combination of balayage, toning and glossing techniques, Chellsie was able to remove a harsh line of demarcation and melt those tones. See how she did it!

The Formulas

Formula A (root):
5VR + 10-volume developer
Formula B (front lightener):
Up to 7 Lightener + 30-volume developer
Formula C (back lightener):
Up to 7 Lightener + 40-volume developer
Formula D (toner):
Shades EQ Gloss 9V + 9T + Shades Developer
Formula E:
Shades EQ Gloss 7NW + 9NW + Shades Developer

Steps

1. Apply Formula A on the roots using a Redken Blur Brush to melt down.

2. While Formula A processes, balayage Formula B through the top and side sections.

3. Next, balayage Formula C on the back sections.

4. Process hair to desired level. Next, tone with Formula D for 2 minutes.

5. Gloss with Formula E. Process 15 minutes.
