Alex Cooper, host of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, hit the red carpet at the premiere of her new documentary, “Call Her Alex”, with a fresh new shade that’s already a summer blonde to watch. Her “Velvet Blonde” color, created by Schwarzkopf Professional® U.S. Hair Color Trend Ambassador Jacob Schwartz (@jacobschwartzhair), is dimensional and tone-on-tone. It’s a fresh take on monochromatic blonde, a hair color trend that’s all about soft shine, seamless dimension and movement that reads beautifully in any light.
Below, we’re sharing Jacob’s full formula—but first, take a closer look at the color in action:

The Formulas
- Formula A (base)
- Schwarzkopf Professional IGORA® Zero AMM 15g 9-1 + IGORA Zero AMM 22g 7-1 + 10-volume developer
- Formula B (hairline)
- IGORA Zero AMM 9-1 + 10-volume developer
- Formula C (face frame)
- Schwarzkopf Professional IGORA Royal 9-11 + 10-volume developer
- Formula D (balayage, ends of sections)
- Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME® 9+ + 40-volume developer
Steps
- Apply Formula A through the base to create a creamy, neutral foundation with soft depth. Let process for 30 minutes.
- Use Formula B at the hairline to keep brightness consistent where the light naturally hits.
- Add Formula C through the front for a subtle pop that draws the eye without disrupting the overall tone.
- Balayage the ends with Formula D to create soft lift and light reflection through the bottom.
- Allow all formulas to process, then rinse and style as desired.
