Aimee Lou Wood has swapped her post–White Lotus sun-drenched bronde for a rich brunette with tonal depth and dimension. Tracey Cunningham (@traceycunningham1), co-owner of Mèche Salon in Beverly Hills, used Schwarzkopf Professional® to create a cool, lived-in brunette with seamless blends and ashy lows.
She didn’t lose the warmth entirely—but she did say goodbye to the beloved Chelsea character (see below) with a deeper, moodier tone that signals a new chapter.

Here’s how Tracey layered multiple lowlight formulas to create movement and softness in this elevated brunette transformation you see below:

The Formulas
- Formula A (lowlights)
- Schwarzkopf Professional® IGORA ROYAL® 30g 6-1 + 20g 5-1 + 10g 6-00 + 6-volume developer
- Formula B (lowlights)
- IGORA ROYAL 50g 7-0 + 50g 6-0 + 6-volume developer
- Formula C (lowlights)
- IGORA ROYAL 100g 7-0 + 6-volume developer
- Formula D (transition zone)
- IGORA ROYAL 40g 6-1 + 20g 5-1 + 6-volume developer
Steps
- Begin by placing lowlights throughout the hair using a mix of Formula A, Formula B and Formula C, depending on desired tone and depth in each section.
- Apply Formula D between highlights and lowlights to create a soft transition zone and eliminate any harsh lines.
- Once rinsed, apply Formula E through the midlengths to add multidimensional shine and unify the overall tone.
- Process, rinse and style as desired.
